National Press Club commemorates Black Wednesday

Black Wednesday takes place on 19 October each year in celebration of media freedom. The 8th annual Percy Qoboza Memorial Lecture took place on Friday 19 October 2018. Read about the life and times of Percy Qoboza.

Four decades of networking

On 12 July 1978, the Pretoria Press Club started with a handful of members. Today it is known as the National Press Club and has almost 500 members. The club meets monthly for a networking function and also holds regular discussion evenings and hosts newsmakers at news briefings. Executive committee member Tanya de Vente-Bijker spoke with a few members who remember those early days.
